These easy brownies make a great chocolate indulgence for your next potluck or picnic.
1/2 cup butter
3 ounces unsweetened chocolate, coarsely chopped
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. In a medium saucepan combine butter and chocolate. Heat and
stir over low heat until melted and smooth. Remove from heat; cool.
2. Meanwhile, grease a 9-inch or 8-inch square baking pan; set aside. Stir sugar into
cooled chocolate mixture in saucepan. Add eggs, one at a time, beating with a wooden
spoon just until combined after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
3. In a small bowl, stir together flour and baking soda. Add flour mixture to chocolate mixture;
stir just until combined. If desired, stir in nuts. Spread batter evenly in the prepared
